Srinagar, Dec 2(KNB): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para on Monday shared an emotional note on Facebook after the J&K High Court granted him permission to travel outside Jammu & Kashmir, marking a major development in his five-year-long legal ordeal.
Para, who has been facing a prolonged legal battle since 2020, described the past years as “painful” and highlighted the emotional toll the restrictions had taken on him and his family.
In his post, Para wrote that for five years he was unable to be with his family during moments of “grief and loss,” adding that the feeling of helplessness during those times leaves a lasting impact.
He reflected on the meaning of freedom, saying one truly understands its value only after it is taken away.
The PDP leader said he had met many families suffering similar restrictions over the years, and their pain remained with him throughout this period.
Today I’m reminded of how many people still live with silent burdens,” he noted.
Para expressed gratitude towards the judiciary, calling it the “one institution that continued to give hope during difficult, dark years.”
He thanked the Hon’ble J&K High Court for restoring “a small but meaningful part of my freedom.”
He also extended appreciation to his counsel Advocate Shariq J Reyaz for persistently fighting his case and standing firm through the legal challenges.
The High Court’s decision marks a significant relief for Para, who has long maintained that the restrictions imposed on him were unjustified. (KNB)
