Srinagar 09 Nov(KNB): Srinagar Police has conducted extensive, coordinated raids at multiple locations across the city as part of sustained efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and curb unlawful activities.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB that the searches targeted the residences of terrorist associates and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) affiliated with proscribed terrorist organizations. These operations are in connection with ongoing investigations under the unlawful activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Residences of the following individuals were searched during the operation:
- Akhter Jeelani Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone (JeI), resident of Sadipora Harwan.
- Mohd Youns Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone (JeI), resident of Sadipora Harwan.
- Gh Nabi Akhoon son of Mohd Ismail Akhon, resident of Sadipora Harwan.
- Mohd Altaf Reshi son of Ali Mohd Reshi, resident of Sadipora Harwan.
- Ab Majeed Reshi son of Ali Mohd Reshi, resident of Sadipora Harwan.
- Sameer ahmad Reshi son of Lt Sonauallah Reshi, resident of Sadipora Harwan.
- Bashir Ahmad, resident of Wavoosa.
- Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, resident of Wanabal.
- Mohd Maqbool Tantray, resident of Rawalpora.
- Mohd Ayoub Dar, resident of Rawalpora.
- Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Rawalpora.
- Abdul Hamid Wani, resident of Wavoosa Rangreth.
- Mohd Idrees Khan, resident of Karannagar.
The searches adhered to due legal procedure, conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, and supervised by senior officers of J&K Police.
The primary objective of these operations was to seize incriminating material such as documents, digital devices, and other evidence relevant to the ongoing UAPA investigations. The raids also serve as a crucial part of a broader intelligence-gathering exercise aimed at pre-empting and disrupting any conspiratorial or terrorist activities that threaten public peace and national security.
This decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of Srinagar Police to identify and take firm legal action against all individuals involved in promoting or supporting terror-related and anti-national activities.
