Baramulla 10 Oct(KNB): Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla hosted its White Coat and Oath-Taking Ceremony on October 9, 2025, to welcome the incoming batch of 1st-year MBBS students. The event marked the official beginning of a new academic journey for future doctors and was attended by all heads of departments,faculty members, students, parents, and distinguished guests.
Ceremony Highlights
The worthy Principal, Prof. Dr. Majid Jahangir, delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the critical role of students to be dedicated, hard-working, and compassionate in their profession. His address stressed the importance of compassion, ethics, and dedication in the medical profession.

-Welcome Addresses: The event featured welcome speeches from key college personnel, including Registrar Academics Prof. Dr. Shafkat Lone, Medical Superintendent Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, MEU Coordinator Dr. Tajamul Hussain, and Chairperson CC Committee Phase 1 Dr. Nadeema Rafiq.
-The Oath-Taking: After the speeches, the students solemnly recited the Oath, pledging their commitment to the principles of medicine. The oath was led by Principal Prof Dr. Majid Jahangir.
Symbolic White Coat Ceremony: A white coat ceremony, symbolic of the students’ entry into the medical fraternity, provided a special touch to the event. Students were presented with their first apron, receiving a thunderous applause and emotional pride from their families.
-Words of Encouragement: All Heads of Departments (HODs) later wished the students great success for their future. The ceremony concluded on a high note, welcoming the new batch with hopes high and dreams alive to step into the world of medicine ready to serve and make their profession proud.
