Kathua 18 Feb(KNB): In a significant crackdown, police in Kathua’s Lakhanpur area arrested two Kashmiri youty on Tuesday, seizing approximately ₹2 crores in cash from their vehicle.
According to reports reached to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB that,the arrests were made at a surprise check post set up on National Highway, where the police intercepted a Hyundai Creta with a Haryana registration number HR98J-9889.
Upon searching the vehicle, police found a large quantity of cash packed in polybags and hidden in the footrest area of the passenger seat. The seized cash, amounting to over ₹2 crores in ₹500 denominations, was counted in the presence of a magistrate.
The two arrested individuals, identified as Kashmir-based youth, were taken to Lakhanpur Police Station for further questioning.
Meanwhile, Police are currently investigating the source of the cash, exploring possible links to drugs, terror funding, and tax evasion.(KNB)
