Srinagar, Oct 31(KNB): The authorities in Health and Medical Education have neglected a report on alleged harassment of a female engineer by the Medical Superintendent of Government Dental College Srinagar and are yet to take any action despite passing of two months.
The report of the investigation of the alleged harassment of a female engineer, Medical Superintendent at Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar,has submitted to the higher ups in the Medical Education Department but sources said that no action was taken about it and the report is gathering dust in the civil Secretariat.
The probe probe panel of the alleged harassment was led by Professor Altaf Hussain Chalkoo and it had submitted its report to the Secretary of Health and Medical Education (H&ME) within the stipulated timeframe.
Principal of GDC, Professor Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Shah had confirmed to media outlets on August that the to Kashmir Dot Com that the report had been forwarded to the government.
Sources indicate that the report was submitted offline, which means its status cannot be easily tracked, unlike submissions made online.
The inquiry was prompted by a controversial incident on July 9, 2024, when the female Junior Engineer from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department alleged that MS GDC Dr. Shah verbally abused and harassed her after finding that his name was omitted from the marble plaque of a newly inaugurated flag structure at the college premises.
The alleged abuse reportedly caused her to nearly faint and led to a boycott of further work by engineers and contractors involved with the project.
The LG’s advisor, R. R. Bhatnagar, had also taken note of the incident and sought report and directed the Dental College authorities and R&B officials for remedial measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Now all eyes are on the Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Masood Itoo to take further action into the report for justice of the female engineer.(KNB)
