Jammu 29 Oct(KNB): Two more militants were killed in Akhnoor area on Tuesday, bringing the total killed in the 27-hour encounter to three.
The operation began after militants fired at an army convoy near the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday. Special forces, NSG commandos, and infantry combat vehicles were deployed.
The final assault started at 7 am on Tuesday, leading to intense gunfire and explosions.
According to officials, A Army dog, Phantom, succumbed to injuries during the operation. Helicopters and drones aided in locating the hiding terrorists.
This encounter comes amidst a surge in terrorist activities in Kashmir, with seven attacks in two weeks resulting in 13 fatalities, including two soldiers.(KNB)
