Senior PDP Leader Syed Bari Andrabi Resigns, May Contest as Independent

Pulwama, August 24: In a significant blow to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), senior leader and District Development Council (DDC) chairperson Pulwama, Syed Bari Andrabi, resigned from the party on Saturday.

Andrabi cited the party’s preference for fielding family members from safer seats as the reason for his resignation. He expressed his commitment to continuing his work for the welfare of the people, which he began after quitting his job in 2014.

The former PDP leader hinted at contesting the upcoming elections as an independent candidate, saying he would make a decision within the next two days after consulting with his workers. Andrabi emphasized his desire to consolidate support rather than dividing people further.

Andrabi’s resignation follows a string of departures from the PDP, including Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Raja Waheed, Dr. Harbaksh Singh, and Ab Qayoom Mir. (KNB)
