Anantnag 01 August(KNB)- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Mohammad Ayoub Hajam, a Patwari (village revenue officer) from Halqa Fatehpora, District Anantnag, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.

According to a complaint filed with the ACB, Hajam had demanded ₹9,000 to issue certified copies of online mutation records for land purchased by the complainant’s wife in February. The amount was later negotiated to ₹5,000, ACB official said.

In a handout issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB ACB said, the complainant chose not to pay the bribe and instead approached the ACB, leading to a discreet verification and subsequent registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

A trap team was set up, and Hajam was caught red-handed accepting the bribe from the complainant. The ACB team recovered the bribe amount from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses.
