Three Militants Killed in Doda Encounter: Police

Doda 26 June(KNB): Three militants were killed during a day-long encounter in the village of Gandoh, Doda district.

As per the reports reached to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB that the operation, which involved a joint effort by Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces, resulted in the killing of three heavy armed militants.

The terrorists were found to be carrying substantial arms and ammunition, including two M4 rifles, an AK-47 rifle, and grenades. The search operation is ongoing, and authorities have used drones and helicopters for aerial surveillance in the area, Police official said.

ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain confirmed the killing of the three terrorists. Additionally, two more terrorists were neutralized in the same operation. The security forces recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. The situation remains sensitive, and people have been cautioned against approaching the site to prevent the spread of rumors and unauthorized information about security forces’ positions

Responding to inquiries about terrorist groups in the division, ADGP Jain revealed that there were initially three to four groups. However, recent infiltrations have increased the number to around six to seven groups. This successful operation marks a significant achievement for security forces, and they continue to investigate whether this group was linked to a previous sighting in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah, he said.

“The coordination of the operation between Doda Police and army ensuring that terrorists had no chance to escape the cordon. The joint effort between security forces and local police played a crucial role in preventing casualties and maintaining control throughout the encounter, Brigadier Sunil Mishra said.
