J&K Government Constitutes District Level Committees for Establishment of 5-Star Hotels

Srinagar, 01 June (KNB): The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has sanctioned the formation of District Level Committees to identify suitable land for the establishment of 5-star hotels across the Union Territory. This decision is detailed in Government Order No. 1116-JK(GAD) of 2024, dated May 30, 2024.

The committees, formed under the directive of the General Administration Department, will focus on locating state land, forest land and private land with the potential for developing high-end hospitality projects. The key criteria for land selection will include accessibility and the availability of necessary infrastructure.

The composition of the District Level Committees is as follows:

Deputy Commissioner concerned – Chairperson
Director Tourism concerned – Member
DFO concerned – Member
Chief Town Planner concerned – Member
Chief Executive Officer concerned – Member
General Manager, District Industries Centre – Member
The committees are tasked with identifying suitable sites, considering factors such as the type of land, soil quality and connectivity to main tourist sites. The findings and proposals are to be submitted through the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu/Kashmir to the Tourism Departmen

The Government has emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the tourism sector’s infrastructure, thereby attracting more tourists and boosting the local economy.-KNB
