Srinagar 07 Oct (KNB): Badami Bagh Cantonment (BBC) Board has siezed a liquor shop soon after it came up under it’s jurisdiction that too close enough to a school.
The liquor shop had come up in the residential building in the Sonwar area of Srinagar.
The prompt action against the liquor outlet came after the timely intervention of the Chief Executive Officer Cantonment Board, Badami Bagh Srinagar and the people of Shivpora, Sonwar who rose up in arms against the wine shop in a residential area.
The outlet was shut after it came to light that the managers had not sought the required permission from the board.
The locality in which the shop was operating doesn’t come under the limits of SMC, and is looked over by the BBC Board.
“The owner might have gotten the liquor licence, however, they had not received permission from the Board,” the official said.
After the liquor outlet came up in the area, the locals were aghast.
The liquor outlet had started is adjacent to the Kendriya Vidyalaya, a government-run public school.(KNB)
