Bandipora 24 June(KNB): Bandipora Police on Friday arrested a Drug Peddler at Sheikh Mohalla Bandipora and recovered contraband substance Charas and illicit liquor bottles from his possession.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB that, Acting on a specific information police party of Police Station Bandipora led SHO P/S Bandipora under the supervision of DYSP HQRS Bandipora, laid a surprise Naka at Sheikh Mohalla Bandipora and two persons were found roaming in suspicious conditions and on being challenged they tried to escape and entered a house where one was apprehended and other escaped from the spot.
The arrested person has been identified as Mohmmad Shafi Sheikh S/o Mohmad Shabaz Sheikh R/o Sheikh Mohalla Bandipora and search for the other accused person namely Mohmad Ashraf Sheikh S/o Habib Ullaha Sheikh R/o Sheikh Mohalla Bandipora is going on, statement added.
During search Charas weighing about 70 Grms ,04 illicit Liquor & 03 Beer Bottles were recovered.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 110 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bandipora and further Investigation has been taken up.
General Public is requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law, Police further said in a statement. (KNB)
