Jammu, Feb 22(KNB): In order to make sports a power house in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) by promoting sports activities, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Udhampur on Tuesday distributed various sports items and kits among eight zones, seventeen blocks of the district .
The mission is aimed at engaging the youths of the rural areas in sports by channelizing the unbounded energy in the right direction. Addressing the representatives of youth, DYSSO Udhampur S. Swaran Singh said that these kits would play a pivotal role in the promotion of sports and other social activities in the rural areas.
“The aim of the distribution of sports items to the youth was to improve their basic infrastructure and provide an impetus to the sports facilities to the students hailing from rural areas,” he said.
He assured the participants that the department is keen to improve sports infrastructure in the district to enable sports talent to take to new heights.
The sports equipments were handed over to the youths of 11 zones, 17 blocks by DYSSO Udhampur, under the patronage of Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, and overall Supervision of Director YSS, Gazanfar Ali.
Among others present on the occasion were in-charge ZPEO, Ajeet singh, Anita Goswami Ramesh, Chaner Karun Magotra, Jatin Sethi, Abdul Qadir, Jai Karan, Ghaneem Akhter, S K Khajuria, Meenakshi Madan Lal, Shabnam, Abisheik, Lalit Sharma, Rajinder and members of various youth clubs of the district.(KNB)
