3 Militants Killed, 4 SFs Injured in Srinagar Encounter

Srinagar 31 December (KNB): Three militants have been killed by government forces in a nocturnal encounter at Panthachowk area of Srinagar’s outskirts, said police. 

As per IGP-K Vijay Kumar, who was quoted by police, three militants were killed in the Panthachowk encounter. He said that among the three slain militants, one was identified as Suhail Ahamd Rather linked with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit. 

In a presser conducted yesterday, Suhail was said to be involved in the Zewan attack in which three police personnel were killed after militants opened fire on a police vehicle.

It was further said that Suhail was affiliated with the JeM outfit. IGP-K also said that all militants involved in the Zewan attack have been killed as two others among six militants, having hand in the attack as per police, were killed in south Kashmir gunfight.  

As per police, four security personnel had been injured in the initial stage of Panthachowk encounter when a fresh firing started. Police quoted IGP-K Vijay Kumar saying that three police personnel and one CRPF man were injured in the encounter who were taken to hospital for treatment. (KNB)
