Vijay Diwas Celebrated at Macchal Sector

Srinagar 16 December (KNB): To commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, Vijay Diwas was celebrated at Machhal, Kamkari, and T Suntwari villages with solemn reverence and patriotic fervour, by villagers and army. 

A statement issued here said that the homage was paid to all the soldiers who lay down their lives defending the nation in the battle. It may be noted that 93,000 Pakistani soldiers had surrendered to the Indian Army and Bangladesh was liberated by India. 

It further said that the celebrations in the Macchal Sector comprised of hoisting the  National flag and  wreath laying by villagers and army and police personnel.

“NCC cadets presented a guard of honour, motivational lectures and screening of a documentary on the significance of Vijay Diwas followed. A total of 350 civilians and 50 NCC cadets of Machhal Bowl enthusiastically attended the celebrations,” the statement said.  

All present pledged to rededicate themselves in the service of the Nation, it added. (KNB)
