Security Geared Up in Srinagar Ahead of 75th I-Day

KNB News Desk

Srinagar 14 August (KNB): Security has been beefed up across the Srinagar city to keep vigil on the things ahead of the 75th Independence day, going to be celebrated across the country tomorrow.

As per our reporters on the ground, in various parts of the city, the security forces have been deployed on the streets and are keeping an eye on everything around. The traffic, both private and public, in the city is moving freely and the traffic police are not allowing any vehicle to stand idle anywhere.

The beefing up of security is normal ahead of the I-Day in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir, but this time the recent events have made the authorities remain on the ball much more than ever before.

Authorities’ concern towards the security has increased manifold as on the I-Day aerial surveillance would be kept with help of drones, which police have confirmed days ago. “Security measures have been taken everywhere. Proper checking/frisking is taking place. Drones are being used for surveillance and other technical surveillance is taking place,” said IGP-K Vijay Kumar on Friday.

Ahead of the unfurling of the tricolour flag on August 15, a full dress rehearsal of parades took place across all the districts of the valley on Friday.

However, regarding the I-Day preparation, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole yesterday said that everything is in place.

It is pertinent to mention that LG Manoj Sinha is going to preside over the main function and would take salute at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar. However, LG’s Advisor R R Bhatnagar will take salute at M A Stadium, Jammu, as per a recent communication addressed to Divisional Commissioners of both Jammu and Kashmir. (KNB)
