Srinagar 13 August (KNB): Kulgam encounter, which started yesterday afternoon in Mir Bazar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam, has come to an end, said IGP-K Vijay Kumar as per police.
IGP earlier said, who was quoted by police , that one militant has been killed so far in the encounter and the search of the building is yet to be done. However, a couple of hours later, he confirmed that the operation had come to an end.
Following the encounter, IGP said that a major tragedy has been averted before Independence Day. “National Highway will be opened for traffic shortly,” said police quoting IGP-K.
However, in the operation, which concluded in less than 24 hours, the security forces have killed one militant, whose identity remains to be known. (KNB)
