Srinagar 18 July (KNB): Encounter has started in South Kashmir Shopian’s Check Sadiq Khan area between militants and security forces, said police.
As per officials, a joint team of Army, CRPF and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Shopian’s Check Sadiq Khan area following the inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
However, as the searching parties were moving towards the suspected spot, the fires were showered over the forces from the militants, which was retaliated by the security forces, the officials added.
Police in this regard said that an encounter has started at Check Sadiq Khan area of Shopian Police and security forces are on the job.
Among the trapped militant is believed top LeT Commander Ishfaq Dar, a resident of Heff area of Shopian, as per sources.
Pertinent to mention that the encounter came days after the one in Srinagar in which two militants affiliated with ISJK outfit were killed. (KNB)
