Police Arrests LeT Militant in Bandipora; Arms, Ammo Recovered

Bandipora 9 July (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a militant belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Officials said that Bandipora Police along with Government security forces arrested a LeT militant, identified as Muzamil Sheikh @ Abu Maviya, in Hajin area and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.

Officials said that on basis of intel regarding the militant movement in the area, a Joint checkpoint was established in Gundjahangeer area of Hajin town by Bandipora police, 13RR, IRP 21th Bn and 45 Bn CRPF.

As per officials, amid the checking, a person behaviour was found suspicious and afterwards tactfully apprehending him, he disclosed his identity as Muzammil Sheikh @ Abu Maviya resident of Chandergeer Hajin.

Officials said that incriminating material along with one Chinese pistol and live rounds were recovered from Abu Maviya, who had recently joined the militant ranks

In this connection FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in police station Hajin and further investigation has been taken up, officials added. (KNB)
