Srinagar 22 June (KNB): President of People Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday confirmed that they have decided to meet Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on June 24.
Talking to reporters after the meeting held by PAGD to take the decision about the Centre’s invitation, Dr. Farooq said that all the invited parties for the meeting with the PM would attend it. “We will put forward our stand before PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during the meeting,” said Abdullah adding that they would brief media persons about things both here and in Delhi after the concluding of the meeting with PM.
“You all know what our stand is and there is no need to mention it,” said Abdullah to media persons.
However, other leaders also said that there is no particular agenda set for the meeting from the Centre and would present their stance during the talks.
During the press briefing, Mehbooba Mufti reiterated that the political prisoners and others in the jails, whether in Kashmir or outside, must be released. She emphasized on the dialogue’s importance and also implicitly referred to mention the same before the PM in the upcoming meeting.
While, on the other hand, M. Yousuf Tarigami of CPI (M) said that they are not going to accept anything which would be on an agenda of Centre rather would put forward their own representations and demands for consideration.
At the end of the briefing, ANC President Muzaffar Shah said that there would be no compromise on Article 370 and 35A.
It is pertinent to mention that around 14 leaders of eight political parties of J&K were sent invitations on Saturday from Centre and the speculations have been made since then that the meeting with PM could be related to restoration of Statehood. (KNB)
