Srinagar 19 June (KNB): A legendary athlete Milkha Singh popularly known as Flying Sikh died on late Friday due to Covid19.
Singh had been infected with the virus in May and later died on late Friday in a hospital in Chandigarh. PM Narendra Modi condoled the death of Singh and termed him as a colossal sportsperson, who had carved space in the people’s hearts.
“In the passing away of Milkha Singh, we have lost a colossal sportsperson, who captured the nation’s imagination and had a special place in the hearts of countless Indians. His inspiring personality endeared himself to millions. Anguished by his passing away,” tweeted Modi.
He further said that “I had spoken to Milkha Singh just a few days ago. Little did I know that it would be our last conversation. Several budding athletes will derive strength from his life journey. My condolences to his family and many admirers all over the world.” (KNB)
