Srinagar 15 June (KNB): Director Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Dr. A G Ahangar said that from a single tablet to Multi-Crore equipment, everything goes through scrutiny of Audits and Purchase Committee.
In an exclusive interview with news agency Kashmir News Bureau, one of the top open heart surgeons from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Ahangar said that he is not scared of anyone trying to spread rumours against the interests of the institution.
He said that these are just a few elements within SKIMS trying to malign the image of the institution and gain one thing or the other for their vested interests.
He said that these people are eyeing for the chair of the Director, which is fine. “It is fine and it is their right but their ways to achieve the aim is not correct,” Director SKIMS said.
Dr. Ahangar also said that unfortunately few people are always trying to criticise SKIMS and spread baseless rumours on social media, print media, etc. “But none among these people have any good intentions towards the progress of the institution. Healthy criticism is always acceptable but they have never appreciated the infrastructural and other crucial developments that has taken place at SKIMS during my tenure,” he added.
He told KNB that all processes/tenders/recruitment or any other work of the institution is looked over by a number of departments before getting approved.
“From a single tablet of paracetamol to expensive ventilators and multi crore equipment, every single thing at SKIMS goes through the scrutiny of Audits and Purchase Committee each and every year,” he said.
Pertinent to mention that during Dr A G Ahangar’s tenure as Director SKIMS, he has completed around 14 big projects of the medical institution.
Moreover, Dr. A G Ahangar said, “My profound regards are to all the people, my entire team force, professors, HODs, doctors, paramedics, nurses, scholars, post graduates, technicians, engineers, administrators, security, residents and every one else that contributed immensely to fight against the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic.” (KNB)
