Srinagar, 30 April: The government officials on Friday said that the largest vaccination drive for age group 18-45 would not begin on 1st May and dates would be announced soon.

As per tweet by DIPR J&K “While the registration for vaccination of eligible persons in the age group 18-45 has been opened on COWIN, the actual vaccination will not begin from 1 May 2021. It ¬will begin from a date to be announced later once the vaccine supply is established.”

They further said that this is the largest drive in the country with an ordered 1.24 crores vaccine to cover the entire 18-45 age group. Vaccination for the above 45 age group continues normally, they said.

While in another announcement it was said that the registration for the given age group has been opened on COWIN App and once the vaccine supply is established, further announcements will be made.

“There will be no walk in vaccinations but only by booking slots on COWIN App which will keep away people from crowding at vaccination centers. DIPR also requested people to wait for announcements of vaccination dates for the age group,” officials said in a tweet.

Replying to the tweet DIPR added “Vaccination will not be a walk in but only through pre-registration of slots. No slots have been opened for booking a session. Please wait for the announcement of the vaccination start date for the 18-45 age group. Vaccination continues for the above 45 age group normally.” (KNB)
