Srinagar 29 October (KNB): Kashmir University administration lacks interest in assisting the students who are in need of getting official paper work done, as well the administration acts sluggish towards their duty, allege several students.

While speaking to Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) a student said that they needed to get their NOCs stamped by the in-charge administrator but were made to wait for hours outside the Chief Proctors office before being harassed.

A student said “In the morning, we were told that the concerned authority was not in the cabin, so will have to wait for 2 hours and when more than 2 hours passed, we approached the person in charge namely Istiyaq Mir, who acted very rudely and harassed us”.

Another student told KNB that after waiting for hours, when I contacted Mir on his phone to inquire if the concerned official has come to the office, he responded vaguely and shouted, “Why are you calling me? Who gave you my number?”

A student said that they have to travel a lot of distance to visit the University campus. “It is really disturbing to travel from far flung areas to just get a stamp on our NOCs, then be told to wait for hours, get disrespected and then told to come again tomorrow,” said the student.

Adding that it doesn’t matter for what reason the authority that is supposed to stamp our NOCs was not available at the office, but the way we were treated was quite disrespectful and unprofessional.

Kashmir News Bureau made several attempts to contact the Chief Proctor Showkat Ahmad Shah regarding the matter but did not respond to the phone calls. (KNB)
