SaMaPa Digital Baithak Series Concludes with Mix of Indian Classical and Kashmiri Folk Music

New Delhi 28 October (KNB): Four month long ‘Season One’ of SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) Digital Baithak Series concluded with a mix of Indian Classical and Kashmiri folk music.

SaMaPa, the acclaimed cultural & educational organization of India of music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori, started its first online series in July earlier this year and went on successfully for four months presenting musicians from all over the country. 

The 33rd session featured Tabla solo recital by Sachin Sharma, a brilliant young Tabla player of the country from Jhansi, presented Teentaal displaying excellent control over rhythm.

The other concert and 34th session featured Kashmiri folk music by the famous Kashmiri musician Gulzar Ahmed Ganaie, who presented two Chakri and two Rouf songs enthralling the listeners with his outstanding renditions & melodious voice.

Ganaie was accompanied by Nazir Ahmad Lone on Rabab, Shabir Ahmad Ahanger and Bilal Ahmad Najar on Sarangi and Waseem Akram Shah on Matka. 

 The introduction to Tabla recital was presented by well known musicologist and writer Pt. Vijay Shanker Mishra while Pt. Bhajan Sopori presented a detailed insight to folk music of Kashmir during the concluding recital of the series.

The renowned broadcaster and anchor Sadhna Shrivastav compered the Baithaks. 

Maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori thanked all the musicians who featured in the 1st season of SaMaPa Digital Baithak Series.

He further extended his gratitude to the media for its support in taking music to the masses.

He also announced that SaMaPa shall soon be presenting another digital series featuring upcoming and established musicians of the country. (KNB)
