Srinagar, April 05(KNB): Medical Superintendent Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Science(SKIMS) Dr. Farooq Jan denied any negligence of doctors in the death of a woman alleged of mismatched blood group at SKIMS.
The family members of the patient accused that she was infused wrong blood group instead of O+ve, following which she went into coma and breathed her last after remaining on ventilator for six days.
Talking to Kashmir News Bureau, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Dr.Farooq Jan said “There has been no mismatch, the said patient was admitted as a case of hepatic evaworma, at the same time she was anaemic patient and was advised for transfusion. First transfusion was given on 29th March and was successful while the second one was to be given on 30th and when the transfusion was given, the patient has some anaphytic reaction, she was treated for same and responded well and her condition was stable overnight, then all of a sudden in the morning she had fall-in her Blood Pressure, had urinary infrenterna and died after remaining on ventilator for six days.”
He further said, “The case was investigated for any mismatch, we checked record and samples of the patient, there was not a single evidence of mismatch if that had happened lab parameters would have shown.She might have some anaphytic reaction which is normal and can happen to anyone, it was not any case of mismatch.”
Pertinently, 22 years young woman Mir Anjum of Bemina breathed her last at SKIMS Soura on Thrusday evening after remaining on ventilator for six days.(KNB)
