Admin brings package of relief for travelers visiting at Srinagar Airport

Srinagar, Jul 25 (KNB): Besides, much awaited night landing operations at Srinagar Airport which would be started soon as the installation of the required facilities are supposed to conclude next month. The authorities are all set to scrape additional X-Ray Scanning process of baggage, apart from baggage identification process.
Indian Air Force (IAF) sources said that most of the arrangements for night landing at Srinagar airport here have been completed, besides the work of installation of Runway lights by the Airport Authority of India were at an advanced stage of completion.
Meanwhile, a feasibility study of the proposed Flyover from Humhama Chowk to Airport will be within a week, to ease the existing vehicular congestion as well as to ensure dislocating the existing market near the Airport entrance.
Earlier in May giving a relief for passenger travelling from airports at Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Civil Aviation ministry today scrapped the mandatory baggage identification by travelers at Srinagar, Jammu and Leh airports.
A number of steps had also been taken to improve the comfort and security of the passengers visiting the Airport which included provision of additional X-Ray Scanning process.
On Tuesday,  Governor N.N. Vohra while chairing a high-level meeting of Civil, Police and Security Forces officers reviewed the status of night landing operations at Srinagar Airport.
Vohra instructed Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, to ensure that the work of lighting, provision of toilets and other facilities was taken up immediately and completed by 5th August 2018.
During the meeting, Director Airport, Srinagar, was directed to take immediate steps for provision of accommodation to house the additional Security Forces Personnel required to provide security during the entire period of the extended flying operations. (KNB)
