Srinagar, April 03 (KNB): The people of Kashmir on Tuesday for third consecutive day observed a complete shutdown against the killing of four civilians and thirteen militants at the hands of government forces on Sunday. While as another youth from Kangan area of Central Kashmir succumbs to his injuries mounting the toll of civilian killings to five.
Life in Kashmir was crippled on Tuesday as shop and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in valley due to a day-long strike called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the killing of civilians in security force firing.
To maintain law and order the authorities place strict restriction in parts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and South Kashmir. The Mobile internet was however restored in district Srinagar.
Amid shutdown and restrictions reports of stone pelting were received from many places including at Kangan, Ganderbal, Sopore, Old City Srinagar and several parts of South Kashmir.
Meanwhile, police rebutting the news regarding tourists being injured in stone pelting at Dalgate area of Srinagar city and Awantipora said no such incident of stone pelting took place in that area yesterday as reported by the correspondent. Police investigation have also shown that no injuries to anybody were reported from area.
However, two tourist got minor injuries on April 1. They were given first aid and discharged immediately. There has been no intended or designed attack on any Tourist. It was because the vehicles came in middle an area where pelting was going on.
Pertinently, as many as 13 local militants, 4 civilians and 3 Army personnel were killed on Sunday in different encounters in south Kashmir areas of Shopian and Anantnag. The mayhem triggered protests in many parts of the Valley resulting injuries to hundreds of people in clashes between protesters and government forces. (KNB)
