860 cases of ceasefire violations in J&K during 2017

New Delhi, 07 (KNB): Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju  has said that during the year 2017, 860 cases of ceasefire violations and during the year 2018 (upto January), 209 ceasefire violations have been reported along Indo-Pakistan Border (LOC) in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
He said there were 16 incidents of infiltration into Punjab in which seven militants were killed and 11 others were apprehended in past two years. Replying to a written question, Rijiju said there were 406 cases of infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir in 2017 in which 59 militants were killed. In 2016, there were 371 incidents of infiltration into the state in which 35 militants were killed and three were arrested, he said.
There were 777 incidents of infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir in which 94 militants were killed by security forces in past two years, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.(KNB)
