8 Years on, Wadoora bridge remains incomplete

Baramullah December 12 (KNB): The residents of Malginipura Rafiabaad of north Kashmir’s Baramullah district are in miserable condition after government failed to construct a footbridge over a stream from last 8 years.


According to the residents, the initial step of construction of a foot bridge was started before seven years but till now not a single phase of it has been completed, making it difficult for the residents especially students who have to go to their school located on the other side of stream.

While taking to Kashmir News Bureau, Jameela a local said, “From last seven years, we are suffering a lot, our school going children,women and elderly face tough times while crossing the stream.”

“In case of emergency, the people risk their lives and carry patients in boats to reach the hospital,” she further said.

“It has been more than seven years since the foundation of the footbridge was laid by R&B, but not a single approach from concerned authorities has put the construction in process”said Gulam Muhdeen Bhat,a resident.

Students are suffering a lot of difficulties due to lack of foot bridge,a student sana said,”I have been missing the classes quite often especially when it rains,due to which my studies are suffering a lot.”

When Kashmir News Bureau contacted Axen Sopore, Saleem Akhtar he said, “we dont have funds yet, tenders will be issued soon and we will start construction” (KNB)
