Srinagar 30 December (KNB): Forces have killed six militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit in the two separate encounters which took place in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Kulgam on Wednesday late night, said police on Thursday morning.
Among the two encounters, the gunfight in Nowgam Shahabad, Dooru area of Anantnag started yesterday evening in which one of the police personnel was also injured in the initial firing. The encounter was followed by another one in south Kashmir Kulgam’s Mirhama area, starting late at night around 10:00 pm.
As per police, in both the encounters, six militants have been killed, who are said to be all affiliated with the JeM outfit. However, officials have been able to identify only four among the six slain militants. Police said that among four slain, two are locals, and two are Pakistani militants.
It was further said that the identities of the other two slain militants are being ascertained. It is pertinent to mention that among the six slain militants, three each were killed in Anantnag and Kulgam encounter.
The police said that both the encounters had been termed by IGP-K Vijay Kumar a big success for them. (KNB)
