Srinagar 23 November (KNB): Police on Tuesday said they have arrested three LeT (TRF) linked persons involved in the killing of a salesman of a shop in Bohri Kadal, Srinagar.
Police said that on 9th november, militants killed a civilian Ibrahim Ahmad (Salesman at Sandeep Mawa’s Shop) near Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar. Following the incident, a case vide FIR No. 86/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Maharaj Gunj and to investigate the said militant crime a special investigation team was constituted.
The police said that during the course of investigation, officers learnt about the involvement of three accused persons identified as Aejaz Ahmad Lone, Naseer Ahmad Shah and Showkat Ahmad Dar all residents of Lelhar Pulwama in said militant crime.
“Subsequently, they were arrested in the instant case and during questioning they confessed about their involvement in the commission of said crime,” said police.
However, it was further said that preliminary investigations revealed that the above-mentioned arrested trio linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT (TRF) have executed the said militant attack on the directions of a militant handler from across the border.
It was further revealed that the arrested trio have been in touch with Pak based militant handlers for the last 4 months. “On their disclosure, the weapon of offence – pistol along with 7 rounds and other incriminating materials including a grenade have been recovered from their possession. Besides, the Alto car which was used during the commission of crime on the day of attack has also been seized on their disclosure,” said police.
Further investigation in the case is in progress, police added. (KNB)
