2G internet speed mars online classes initiative of School education dept

Srinagar, April 16(KNB): The slow internet speed is marring the aim of much hyped online classes started by school education department.

The students are not able to download the study material due to low speed 2G internet available in the Union Territory.

Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir has been under lock down and internet was snapped since August 2019 after the abrogation of Article 370, after the long span of seven months government lifted the ban on internet and allowed the 2G internet services since than students of the valley are struggling with the same internet speed.

One of the student said, “Our school has started online classes from past one week but we have missed the classes as our internet connection becomes abruptly low speed, we are lagging behind the rest of students from other places. I am very much worried about my career.”

Another student said, “While the government has restricted the internet speed to 2G services the speed is so slow that hardly anything could be downloaded, as a consequence, there is no way for me to clear my doubts online.”

Talking to Kashmir News Bureau, President Private Schools Association G.N.Var said, ” Covid -19 is a natural calamity and we can not fight with it but I have always said that China is a model for us as after the outbreak of Covid_19 in china they surely close the schools but schooling was going on with the help of online classes.”

He further said, “Our students are lagging behind the rest as all educational institutions remained closed and were also deprived of the internet services since 5 August 2019 when the article was abrogated, till now only 2g services have been restored which is not helping the students at all.”

Moreover, the whole country is under nationwide lockdown which has been extended till May 03 to contain the spread of deadly Coronavirus which has claimed 428 deaths and 12808 confirmed positive cases so far.(KNB)
