Srinagar 06 March (KNB): Since the onset of the year 2019, the number of security casualties and the frequency of the militant related incidents are on rise, Last month was termed as the bloodiest month in which at least 49 CRPF troopers were killed and more than 60 were injured in the deadliest attack in Lethpora area of Pulwama district.

After the Pulwama attack at least six encounters took place in the valley, resulting in the death of the more than 14 security personals besides the killing of 14 militants and a civilian, the encounter at tarigam area of Kulgam district was the last encounter which took place in the month of the February in which one Armyman and the encounter specialist deputy superintendent of police Aman Thokar was killed, besides the three militants affiliated with JeM.
According to Ministry of Home Affairs data between 2014 and 2018, there has been a 93 per rise in the number of security personnel killed in Militant incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

The month of march was no different as march also started with an encounter at the Babagund village of Langate in Handwara of Kupwara district which turned out to be a longest gunfight between the security forces and the militants in recent past lasting more than 72 hours resulting in the casualties of nine people including one civilian , four CRPF men, two policemen and two militants .

The encounters are not only resulting in the casualties, many are left homeless as the number of houses were damaged during these gunfights resulting in the loss of properties.

Talking to Kashmir news bureau a lady whose house was damaged during gunfight said “I was on the river to wash the clothes as Army cordoned the area and after that an encounter started.”

“We lost everything in the encounter, house is raised to ground, whatever there was inside the house has been burnt , even the animals and chicken died during the gunfight, my husband is a labour we are helpless,” she further said while tears rolling down.

The sane voices are stressing on the solution of the conflict to end the bloodshed and the human loss whether a soldier, militant or civilian and collateral damage in the conflict ridden state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile an Ex- Navy Chief Admiral Laxminarayan Ramdas wrote a letter to president that “ the Kashmir problem must be resolved through dialogue between India , Pakistan and people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir . We must act now and sit across the table and have an honest dialogue with all parties concerned he further wrote “it might be already too late.” (KNB)
