DC Kupwara chairs Disaster preparedness meet

Kupwara, 21Jan(KNB): Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today, chaired a meeting of heads of various departments to review the overall disaster Management plan and review snow preparedness in view of incessant snowfall.


The meeting was attended by ADC’s of Kupwara and Handwara, ACR, SDMS, EO’s Representatives of SDRF,Teshildar’s and officials of Disaster Management.

On the occasion the DC Kupwara exhorted upon all the concerned to remain stationed at the headquarters and doing work for the betterment of public. He called for close coordination between the departments and other agencies to protect the people from miseries and dire gruesome problems.He also urged to do well for the common masses so that they will not suffer in this chilling winter season.

He interacted with concerned authorities to remain and directed all to remain prepared and be ready to deal with any kind of unavoidable circumstances that may arise due to inclement weather conditions. He also gave instructions to officials to accelerate the momentum of work and to promote the good atmosphere for the people.

He pressed for making a list of vulnerable locations and mobilise machinery like dozers, sandbags, boats, vehicles, dewatering pumps to these areas. He directed to regularly update the relevant statistical data and to keep men and machinery ready if any debouching situation will arise.



He also added that, to bring close coordination between the departments to ensure timely rescue operations and rehabilitation measures which might be done and arise due to harsh conditions of weather. Moreover he urged the people of remote areas to remain vigilant and to contact the administration in case of any major problems.(KNB)
